Welcome Year 5
I hope you have all had an enjoyable holidays and are looking forward to the Summer term in Year 5!
In Literacy we will be looking at identifying the different between biography and autobiography. We will be linking this work to our topic in R.E and the famous leaders/founders of Buddhism. We will then create a biography on our chosen leader.
In Maths we will be revising our knowledge and understanding of place value, focusing on 6 digit numbers, negative numbers and decimals. We will also be learning about angles and polygons, fractions and data handling.
In Science this half term we are learning about Properties and Changing Materials such as solids, liquids and gases. This will involve conducting a fair test investigation using our dissolving/mixing skills. We will then record the results.
Linking to Parliament week, Year 5 have also been chosen for a trip to the Manchester Crown Courts to participate in our own court sessions. We will also be visiting the Town Hall for a tour.
Please make sure your child brings their book bag with their reading book and reading record in it to school every day.
Also, please remember to bring your P.E kit in on Tuesdays and Thursdays, along with suitable footwear to ensure outdoor activities are safe.
