Early Years Foundation Stage
Welcome to Early Years!
Nursery
Nursery have been shape stamping with paints. They have been naming the different shapes they are using and naming the colours.
One of the fruit Handa has is a pineapple, today we tasted the fruit.
Over the past few weeks, the children have been reading various bear stories. We have read ‘Brown Bear, Brown Bear what do you see?’, ‘Polar Bear, Polar Bear what do you hear?’, ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’ and ‘Whatever next’
We have enjoyed looking and learning about the bears. Today, the children have painted their own bears.
Autumn in reception
In September the leaves started falling off the trees. The children helped to sweep them up.
In PSE we read the story ‘The Colour Monster’ and made our own jars of colour.
We used our jars of colour to make a calm area in our classroom.
we have enjoyed sorting objects into sets.
Our grown ups came to find out what we are learning in phonics. Afterwards they came to play with us in our new classroom.
We had lots of fun learning and playing with our families in school.
At the end of September, we went for a walk to the orchard. There were lots of apples on trees. We also found some pear trees.
We collected leaves, twigs and seeds to use in our creative area.
In Understanding the World we learnt about living and non-living things. We thought about which things could move, grow, eat and drink.
We learnt about farm animals. We worked together to make a farm for our toy animals. We sorted the animals into sets and made pens to keep them safe.
Now it is November lots of the leaves have fallen from the apple trees.
We went on a journey around our school. We found beautiful stones in the Peace Garden
We collected autumn treasures on our walk and made journey sticks. The story sticks helped us to talk about our journey
Phonics Workshop!
The reception parents and carers were invited into school for the afternoon to get involved with the ‘phonics workshop’. They were given an insight into how they can support children at home with their phonics and how it is taught at school. The children and their grownups were then able to learn through play together and explore a variety of areas within our early years setting.
Welcome to all of our new and returning children, parents and carers. Starting Early years is an exciting time, your child will learn lots of new things and acquire new skills. We are really looking forward to the year ahead.
The children have settled well in the first week back! They have all enjoyed making new friends and exploring the new resources!
