Welcome to Year 4's Class Page

Article 28: You have the right to a good quality education.

On Tuesday 3rd February, Year 4 took part in an exciting Anglo-Saxon workshop at school. We dressed up in traditional Anglo-Saxon clothes, which helped us imagine what life was like long ago. We also learned how to write using quills and ink, just like people did in the past. The workshop taught us about the rich history of the Anglo-Saxons and helped bring our learning to life in a fun and memorable way.

On Thursday 22nd January Year 4 held their first reading workshop. Parents and carers were invited into school to join their children in a range of fun, reading-related activities. The hall was full of smiles and laughter as children shared stories, explored books, and enjoyed reading side by side with their grown-ups. It was a joyful experience that helped make reading even more exciting, and the children clearly loved spending this special time learning and reading together.

  Autumn Term

In the last week of term, KS2 had their Christmas Parties.

The children played exciting games like Pass the Parcel and Musical statues and got to show off their best moves on the dance floor in the hall.

We enjoyed lots of delicious party food, and got to sit with our friends.

Although Santa could not make it to our party he left a sack of presents for us.

Everyone had a fantastic time!

 Blue Peter

On Monday 20th October, our friends at Blue Peter invited Year 4 to come and take part in the Children in Need special episode. The children got to meet Pudsey Bear and take part in some science experiments with TikTok star Emmanuel Wallace.

The children had a great time and got another Blue Peter badge to add to their collections!

Whale I Tried Regular

On our first week back, our lovely new class teacher planned an amazing activity for us all to enjoy. It was linked to our vehicle book for writing. We went outside to discover some covered objects on the ground. Miss did a 'big reveal' as part of the 'Book Hook'.

We studied the articles and tried to predict and make links to what was there. We were given some discussion cue cards of how things might be used, were they old or modern as well as making sensible links and predictions. This was a fantastic introduction to our new learning.

This year we are introducing a new scheme, ‘ReadySteadySpell’ which we will be using in class to enhance your child’s spelling skills. Each week, your child will have three fun and engaging spelling lessons, which will focus on a specific spelling pattern or rule.

We will use a range of strategies to encourage the children to become confident spellers. Below we have attached a home learning document that outlines the strategies we will be using in class. We encourage you to review it together and set aside a few minutes each day for practice.

Engaging in activities such as games or writing exercises can make learning fun and effective. If you have any questions about the programme, or how to support your child at home, please feel free to reach out.
