Our children enjoy the opportunity to play, learn and explore with their families in school. Our family sessions sessions aim to give children and their parents/carers quality time together as they have fun and learn new skills.
Family Food Tasting and Cooking Session
Early Years and Key Stage 1 parents joined our food tasting and cooking session. The families tasted a range of healthy pizza toppings and created their own pizzas.
Family Fun with Mr Warran
Our PE lead led a fun family session for Year 3 and 4 children and their families as part of our whole school 'Healthy Body, Healthy Mind Week'.
Nursery Family Afternoon
Nursery children learned through play, exploring a range of activities and workshop areas with their parents and carers.
Every year, we run termly Family SEAL morning's for our Key Stage 1 and Foundation Stage classes. Our children thoroughly enjoy every moment of this opportunity to play, learn and discover alongside their family members. The sessions aim to develop the children's social and emotional skills. We feel that is particularly important to support our children and families to develop these skills because it has been proven that children who have good social and emotional skills are better equipped for life and learning.
Some of the aspects of learning covered in Family Seal sessions are:
- Managing feelings
- Social skills
They are presented through 7 themes:
- New Beginnings
- Getting on and Falling Out
- Say no to Bullying
- Going for Goals
- Good to be me
Our children are familiar with the format of the sessions and enjoy using the wide variety of high quality resources provided to demonstrate to their family the skills which they have been learning in their classes. You can see this below, in some photographs of our most recent Family SEAL session...
