Music Subject Overview
Music education is a unique and encompassing gate-way to creativity and interpretation. It gives pupils an opportunity for a different form of expression, fostering a greater self-confidence, awareness and self-achievement.
Learning within Music has no limitations and involves composition, rehearsal, experimentation, use of aural and musical instrumentation as well as considering Musical icons. Its aim is to inspire and engage, giving children a universal language in which they can feel empowered.
Our Vision and Aim for Musical Education
At St Augustine’s we strongly believe in a high quality Musical education in which all children are given the opportunity to develop a deep love of Music and express themselves through Musical activities. Our aim as a provider of Musical education is to allow children to explore within the inter-related dimensions of Music, experiencing a wide-range of sounds and instruments whilst developing their talents as Musicians.
We strive towards Music being an interwoven part of life at St Augustine’s where positive attitudes towards Music help pupils develop their confidence, self-esteem and sense of achievement. Enabling all pupils to have a voice.
We are a proud Sing Up Platinum Awarded school and sing everyday. Most recently our Year 1s and 2s have performed in Sing A Round and Year 6 performed at Young Voices 2019.
