Welcome to Year 6

Autumn Term
The first Thursday of October we held a reading workshop for our parents and students in Year 6. Parents joined us in the morning to learn different techniques, to help their children improve their reading at home. There were several stations with different reading activities at each. One station even looked at a past SATs reading paper. This gave students and parents an idea of what they will face in the May SATs. It was lovely to see our students show off some of the wonderful work they have done so far.

On Friday 20th September St Augustine's celebrated World Pace Day together. Year 6 did lots of fun activities in the morning. At lunchtime we ate foods from around the world. Then parents joined us in the afternoon to decorate rocks for our new peace garden.

Take Over Day!
This week we took part in a school vote to elect the students who would take over the roles of the staff at St Augustine's. Our new head teacher Miss Tall lead the class assembly accompanied by the new deputy head Miss Zeray and the new business manager Miss Faisal. Year 6 then went back to class where they were taught by their new Year 6 teachers Mr Popoola and Mr Hamad. Year 6 put a lot of planning and hard work into their lessons and took full advantage of their new power, by giving students an extra 10 minutes breaktime.

Visit from Reverend Stuart
In the afternoon we got a visit from Reverend Stuart. He spoke to us about nature and the importance of looking after it and helped us plant some plants in our new peace garden.
Play Leader Training
Article 31 Every child has the right to relax, play and take part in wide rang of cultural activities.
This week we started our class training sessions for school play leaders. The training focused on developing the skills and knowledge required to facilitate and lead safe, engaging, and inclusive play. It emphasized the importance of creating a supportive environment and using play as a tool for learning and growth. Year 6 learned practical techniques for organizing games, managing groups, and fostering social interaction among children through different team-building activities.
Our Class Charity
The Charity Year 6 has chosen to support this year is Refugee Action. A Manchester based charity that aims to help refugees.
Say hello to our lovely new Year 6 class!
Year 6 Class Prayer
Dear god of our faith,
We are grateful for the life you gave us, the family we are apart of and the world we share,
We are thankful for the animals from the small snails to the big whales,
We are hopeful for the trees to continue to grow and the stars to glow,
Help us to be respectful to the other children’s rights so we can fly like kites,
May we never forget to believe, always hope to achieve and guide us to succeed.
Amen/Ameen
